Our Malawi Expedition combines an incredible hut-to-hut alpine trekking experience, outstanding scenery, wildlife viewing in a premiere national park, and the optional finale of swimming, snorkeling and kayaking off your private island camp in Lake Malawi.
Malawi is a small country with a big heart and a wide range of incredible activities. Mount Mulanje is the highest peak in Malawi rising to an impressive height of 3,000 meters (9,842 feet). Dubbed the ‘Island in the Sky’, its imposing exposed rock face dominates the surrounding landscape and on misty days Mount Mulanje’s base is shrouded in a haze that creates an otherworldly effect of a floating island.
Malawi’s main river, the Shire, forms the western boundary of Liwonde National Park and is the reserve’s lifeblood. With plentiful wildlife including hippos, kudu, elephants, crocodiles and elephants and even black rhino, the park had become one of Malawi’s premier wildlife-viewing destinations. Lake Malawi’s vast size, its warm freshwater and its gorgeous surrounding beaches make it a mecca for those seeking a year-round location to swim, snorkel, kayak and more.
