Meet Alexandra Hankins
Alexandra Hankins
Safari Operations Specialist, The Wild Source
Alexandra’s passion for new experiences began when she left her hometown of Littleton, Colorado, to attend design school in California. Once she started exploring, it became almost impossible to stop.
In 2017, she took a spontaneous six-week jungle conservation volunteer trip to the Amazon Rainforest, which sparked her interest in international travel and living abroad. A few years later, she got her TEFL Certification and bought a one-way ticket to Berlin, Germany, where she would spend the next two years teaching English to students from around the world. When the pandemic hit, she made the difficult decision to put her travels on hold and return to the US, pursuing a career in the nonprofit sector.
Back home, she joined a year-long AmeriCorps program, working to help alleviate food insecurity in New York’s Capital Region. After completing her year of service, she moved back to Colorado, where she took on a role with a nonprofit in Longmont focused on regenerative agriculture, clean energy, and local food production. Her professional background includes experience in marketing, communications, and fundraising, and she holds an Associate of Arts degree in Visual Communications.
Over the past decade, Alexandra has lived and worked in ten cities across four countries and four states. She has road-tripped through much of the US, visiting 45 states, with plans to visit the remaining five in the coming years. Her love for travel and conservation eventually brought her to The Wild Source, where she now applies her cross-cultural expertise and nonprofit experience to promote conservation-based travel.
When Alexandra isn’t working, you can find her shooting film photography somewhere out in nature, doing yoga, or planning her next adventure.
