Madagascar remains a wild and rugged country with beautiful beaches and incredible natural wonders, and is inhabited by warm and friendly people. From one of the world’s oldest types of forests with the greatest number of endemic species in the country, to the stunning coastlines during the whale migration season, this itinerary has been custom-designed to combine two of the country’s most precious regions which showcase not only the unique wildlife but also the adventure opportunities within its spellbinding landscapes.
Mandrare River Camp, located on the southern tip of Madagascar, is situated on private land, providing exclusive and uninterrupted opportunities to view wildlife and soak in pristine river views. The area boasts at least four species of lemurs; between the sunrise, afternoon, and evening guided walks, you won’t leave this camp without spotting several, if not all of the native lemurs! The prehistoric Sacred Spiny Forest and ancient burial tombs will give you a remarkable experience in learning about the Malagasy history and culture.
The luxurious Manafiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge, on the southeastern coast, is tucked into the rainforest, a few feet from the calm, blue Indian Ocean. Each bungalow has its own private veranda with a hammock, inviting you to witness breathtaking sunsets over the water. The rainforest surrounding the lodge hosts a plethora of unique flora, exquisite birds, reptiles and lemurs. You will have ample opportunity to take wildlife walks, enjoy beach activities, take a boat trip through the mangroves, and talk with the locals.
