Traveling to Kenya in February is one of our safari secrets: the resident Loita herd of some 200,000 wildebeest in the Mara calve in mid-February, and the big cat viewing is typically excellent – but the crowds are much smaller than the high season. Complimenting the Mara are the Laikipia Plateau in north-central Kenya and the Chyulu Hills in southwestern Kenya, in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
We have designed this safari with a relaxed pace and ample time spent in each region. You’ll begin in Kenya’s wild northern frontier district with three nights at Ol Malo Lodge, with incredible views, a private guide for game drives, and the opportunity to see some rare species like wild dog, reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra. Continue on to the Olare Motorogi Conservancy for a four night stay at stunning Mara Plains Camp, with access to two private conservancies and the Mara Reserve for unparalleled wildlife viewing. Then for a finale, you’ll fly to lovely Ol Donyo Lodge, with opportunities to see some of Africa’s biggest elephants, participate in a diversity of activities and sleep out under the stars – in style.
