Tubu Tree Camp
Tubu Tree Camp is located in the Jao Concession of 150,000 acres in the northwestern heart of the Okavango Delta. Tubu Tree lies on the western side of the isolated Hunda Island which is the largest dry land area in this part of the Delta, making it especially productive for game drives. Here dry sandveld with acacia scrub, mopane woodlands and lush flood plains all come together creating a diverse area.
Tubu Tree has earned a deserved reputation for being one of Botswana’s best leopard areas. Lion research has also been conducted in this concession and the guides have great knowledge of the local prides. The wetland area is one of the best for Okavango specialties like sitatunga antelope and red lechwe.
Activities include day and night game drives in open 4×4 vehicles. During the winter season (normally May to late September), boating, seasonal fishing and mokoro trips are also offered.
Elevated walkways through the woodland canopy link the traditional style camp with eight secluded tents on raised platforms, taking in the stunning Okavango scenery of the surrounding floodplain. Each tent has a private front deck, en-suite bathroom facilities and an outdoor shower. The main dining and lounge areas are raised on platforms with an outdoor bar under the spreading boughs of a marula tree. The pool deck below affords uninterrupted views over the ever-changing plain.
