The itinerary has been designed for the cat fanatic who is ready to spend sunrise to sunset seeking out fascinating cat behavior in two of the world’s most incredible locations for wild cats – the Masai Mara in Kenya and Ndutu / Southern Serengeti in Tanzania. This is a remarkable itinerary to focus on the big cat species. The smaller cats are far from guaranteed, but historically these have also been among the best areas for finding serval, caracal and African wild cat so there is a chance of additional cat luck.
In the Mara you’ll stay at Enaidura Camp, the guide-owned and operated camp for Safari Purists, located in the best area of the Reserve to reach prime big cat country. You are guided by legendary Maasai guides Ping and Peter Kiyaa. These expert guides know the cats in this region, often by individual name and have deep knowledge of their behavior, history and social dynamics.
The second half of your safari will find you at the unmatched Njozi Camp, ideally located in the heart of Ndutu to access the best wildlife viewing in the region. The camp itself comes alive with giraffe, impala and zebra grazing nearby and the night sounds of lion and hyena. Leading you on this ultimate Tanzania big cat safari will be the dynamic team of expert naturalist guides from The Wild Source, Fadhil Magoye and Henry Akeyo.
Also joining you at Njozi Camp will be The Wild Source Tanzania’s big cat research team, David and Yusuf, who are stationed at Njozi Camp to study the big cats of the Ndutu and Serengeti ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to learn from big cat biologists in the field as you spend full days out on game drive learning about the fascinating behavior unfolding before you, and helping the biologists collect observational data.
