Chobe Under Canvas
Chobe is the most well known National Park and wildlife area in Botswana. It is famed for its enormous elephant populations and the exceptional viewing possible by boat on the Chobe River. This river being most likely the best water based wildlife viewing opportunity in the world.
The prime time to visit is from August through October as the dry season progresses and thousands of elephants come to the Chobe riverfront early and late in the day. Buffalo herds up to 1,500 individuals also use the river’s edge for grazing. A boat trip is the ultimate way to see the variety of animals along the river. Game drives can be very productive too but because you are in a National Park vehicles must stay on the roads. Particularly in the riverfront area this can lead to some crowding at special sightings.
