Summary
The lion is the species that is most sought after by safari goers. Lions can be observed in most protected wildlife areas that are popular locations for safari.

Best Places
Best Places: Duba Plains in Botswana is unique due to the frequently observed daytime hunts of buffalo. In general Northern Botswana, greater Kruger area, Serengeti, Masai Mara, and Etosha all rank as highly productive lion viewing areas.

Other Areas of Note
Most protected areas offer opportunities to find lions. Places that have night drives increase the chances of staying out late and finding active lions as opposed to ‘flat cats’ as they often are for hours during the day.

Something Extra
This is a more generic extra, but if you are able to locate roaring lions on a night drive it is an unforgettable experience as their roars reverberate through your body.
