African Elephant Encounters

African elephants are an extremely intelligent and fascinating species. The Grey Matters project in Botswana cares for 3 elephants orphaned during culling operations in South Africa and Zimbabwe, and now allows the unbelievable opportunity for a limited number of tourists to walk as part of the herd and be immersed for ½ a day in elephant life, learning their sounds, behaviors, and being able to touch them and this all takes place in the wilds of the Okavango Delta. These elephants serve as ambassadors for the species, but not only with tourists, through the Living with Elephants Foundation the trio meet with local villages and over 100 children (ages 9 to 12) a year helping people learn more about their elephant neighbors resulting in a desire to work through human-elephant conflicts.
