Nanzhila Plains Camp Overview
Great birding opportunities abound at Nanzhila Plains Camp
Nanzhila Plains Camp is situated in the extremely remote southern section of Kafue National Park. With the next closest camp a three hour drive away Nanzhila Plains Camp is truly a location meant for wilderness explorers. This area does suffer from poaching that occurs during a five month green season but the owners of Nanzhila Plains Camp are making an effort to keep a year round presence to help rehabilitate the wildlife and that is a major reason to support this camp.
The Nanzhila Plains Camp area is not teeming with game as so many popular safari destinations are but that has created a unique off the page opportunity for the old safari hand that wants to go deep into a remote region where you will not see other vehicles, other walkers, even other signs of humans. While it is not a stellar Big 5 destination it is a prime birding location, with around 500 species recorded, including such specialties as the endangered wattled crane, black-cheeked lovebird and Pel’s fishing owl.
