Overlooking the confluence of the Boro and Metsematsweu Channels of the Okavango Delta, Delta Camp is located on a small island in the heart of the Delta.
Delta Camp is the ultimate immersion into the pristine beauty of the Okavango Delta where dry land and wetland species cohabit, creating unqiue combinations of plants, amphibians, birds, mammals, and reptiles. Here, time slows down a bit. From Delta Camp, the focus is experiencing the Delta with all the senses by utilizing mokoro—dugout canoes—to navigate the nearby waterways and by walking.
The intimate camp is designed to provide endless immersion in nature. The lounge and dining area are well-elevated for views of the swamp and riverine forest. A variety of game can usually be seen from the deck with good elephant viewing, hippo, and crocodile
The camp’s chalets are designed not to interfere with the old-growth island forest but rather to blend into the scenery. This sometimes means a tree grows through the roof or floor of the camp, that there is no glass used in construction, and the buildings are elevated to minimize the disturbance of vegetation. Locally-grown reed and grass are the principal materials for the chalets combined with easily-removable canvas. Each chalet is ensuite with hot and cold running water, a shower with a view, a variety of beds and areas in which to relax, mosquito netting, and solar-powered electric lighting.
Delta Camp offers twice-daily walking and mokoro safari excursions in the Moremi Game Reserve. Each group is paired with their own private guide where you can enjoy intimate walks and mokoro. While walking, you will learn about tracking animals, how they behave and live, and find greater observation of the plants and trees that surround you. Village walks are also available.
