Chaka Camp is a seasonal tented camp that moves with the Great Migration. From December through March, it is located in the Ndutu Region of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From late May through October, the camp is located in the Northern Serengeti near the Mara River. This gives the camp excellent access to the highlights of the season including the annual calving season when the wildebeest give birth to upwards of 8,000 babies a day in February. It is also host to the annual Great Migration river crossings in the Northern Serengeti as they make their way into Kenya across the Mara River.
The camp features a separate dining and lounge tent, bar, small library, verandah, separate restroom tent for dining, and fire pit.
Accommodations include ten tents accommodating up to 2 adults and 2 children (8 x 4 meters). The tents feature private verandas overlooking the Serengeti ecosystem, ensuite bathrooms with wardrobe, flush toilets, writing desk, and solar electricity with UK plug points in the dining tent and bedroms.
The seasonal camp leaves zero footprint as it moves through the Serengeti, utilizing custom solar power, handwoven African fabrics, and custom designed furniture from local artisans.
